About Suzanne

What really drives me and fascinates me as a photographer are these questions that I always have in mind:“What are you thinking about? What motivates you? What makes you laugh, cry, smile, get emotional? What brings you joy? What keeps you going? What makes you live?”

Background

I grew up in the countryside and have lived, studied and worked in England, Austria, the US, France, and Afghanistan. I have an MA from The Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies at The Johns Hopkins University.

I worked for Citibank and The Danish-American Business Forum – 7 years at each company and I am a board member of several Danish organizations.

I have been researching Islam, religious extremism and the conflict between Shia and Sunnier and the effects on society. Visited Imam schools in Morocco and Jordan.

In early 2017, I joined the two-year photography program at Key Point Photography Academy, which I completed at the end of November 2018.

Achievements

In October 2012, I graduated from the Danish School of Media and Journalism and I have, since then, been working as a freelance journalist.

In 2012, I initiated and facilitated the idea behind the DR Horisont program on Danish National TV about an Afghan female police officer, Nigara, whom I met while working for the EU Police Mission in Afghanistan in 2009.

I worked for Citibank and The Danish-American Business Forum – 7 years at each company and I am a board member of several Danish organizations.

In May 2014, the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs sent me to the Ukrainian Presidential Election as a short term OSCE Election Observer and then to Georgia in October-November 2017 for local elections and most recently to Armenia in 2018.

In 2015, I finalized the TV documentary on the Danish Naval Special Warfare Group, together with STV A/S, a Danish production company. I initiated, facilitated and co-produced the documentary.

Academy, which I completed at the end of November 2018.

Adventure and Nature

I have traveled extensively in Africa and the Middle East and written articles in various Danish media. Whether I’m working in the US, Afghanistan, Europe or Jordan as a journalist, board member or photographer – Samsø is my home.

Nature, hunting, beach walks, the calmness in the woods, meeting with other cultures, experiences and people are my primary sources of inspiration for my work as a journalist and photographer.
